Castrol Magnatec improved with Dualock

- – THOMAS HUONG

THE new Castrol Magnatec engine oil range with Dualock technology promises improved engine protection and fuel economy.

The new lubricant has technology akin to two different protective molecules tightly locking together and clinging to the engine surface, thus forming a powerful protective layer that delivers a 50% reduction of warm-up and stop-start engine wear.

BP Castrol Lubricants (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd technical services manager Joshua Tan said the new engine oil can improve a car’s fuel economy by up to 3.95%.

“This is based on our test data for combined highway and city driving, and compared with industry standards,” said Tan.

The new Castrol Magnatec engine oil range with Dualock technology was designed specifically with traffic congestion in mind, to provide greater protection to vehicles operating in today’s road conditions.

Tan also noted that traffic congestion creates additional pressure on the car engine as it can result in a third of its journey time idling.

“This puts up to 66% more load on critical engine parts compared to driving on the open road,” said Tan.

The new lubricant range is suitable for use in petrol, diesel and hybrid vehicles.

Recommended retail prices for a 4-litre pack are:

- RM138.70 (Magnatec 10W-40 part synthetic for petrol cars);

- RM143.40 (Magnatec 10W-30 part synthetic for petrol and diesel cars);

- RM187.80 (Magnatec StopStart 5W-30 fully synthetic for petrol, diesel and hybrid cars);

- RM201.90 (Magnatec StopStart 0W-20 fully synthetic for petrol and hybrid cars)
