My favourite animal
ANIMALS are amazing and wonderful creatures. All of them are different in their own ways.
Here are some interesting and unique facts about some of my favourite animals. A shrimp’s heart is located in its head. A snail can sleep for as long as three years and the mighty elephant is the only animal that cannot jump.
Also, cows can produce about 200,000 glasses of milk in their lifetime.
Recently, Starchild asked readers to send in letters about their favourite animals. Here is what they had to say:
“My favourite animal is the dolphin. I like it because it is sociable, playful and intelligent. They also have very good eyesight.” says Isaac Lim Jien How ,10.
Five year old, Mervi Toh Sin Yi, says that her dream animal is her dog. “My dog is named Gigi and she is my favourite animal. She is 12 years old. I love to play with Gigi after school.”
Tan Xian Jun, nine writes: “My favourite animal is the chameleon. It can change its colour in different environments and stretch out its tongue to eat bugs.”
“I like a fish called the viperfish. The two amazing facts about this fish is that it has a long stomach and can live up to 50 years.” says Peggy Goh, nine.
Chua Zi Xen, nine likes all sea creatures. She writes: “I wish to go deep in the oceans because I think there are many beautiful and interesting creatures there. My favourite animals are turtles, eels, octopus and even sharks!”
“The animal that I like is the seahorse. It has a curly tail and snout. The seahorse lives only for about three to five years,” writes Janessa Wong, nine.
Anastasia Lau, nine finds the clownfish very adorable. She says “The clownfish has three colours on its body – black, white and orange.”
Penguins are 10-year-old Tan Kate-Lynn’s favourite animal. She says, “If I could be an animal, I would be a penguin. I have a collection of penguin soft toys, along with other penguin collectables such as stationery and clothes.”
“My dream animal is a cat and if I were to get one, it would be a white and orange Turkish Van cat, which I would name Mimi. I
would take Mimi to the park where we can play and chase each other all day long.” writes Yong Ping Yu, nine.
