Affordable medical studies
SINCE the days of our forefathers, medical studies have always been associated with expensive tuition fees and difficult examinations. Therefore, many students have had their dreams dashed by such thoughts and perception.
Many secondary school-leavers also do not have the confidence to take up medicine because of fear of the course. Little do they know that medical studies isn't difficult as it requires less problem-solving skills than engineering.
Compared to courses such as actuarial science, accountancy, architecture, engineering, quantity surveying and molecular biology, the dropout rate for the medical faculty is approximately the same or lower.
The subjects from first to final year have their own repetition along the way, enabling students to have a better understanding of what they are studying.
With the right attitude as a student, one will never face problems comprehending the subjects in medical studies. Because we as a society do not acknowledge the full span of reasons for pursuing medicine, some young people may think it's not for them and miss out on many of the potential benefits this course and profession can offer.
If one has the passion to help out the sick and poor, then do not hesitate to study medicine.
Nowadays, medical courses are more affordable with emerging medical universities in countries such as Russia.
With the heavy subsidy offered by the Russian Federation government for foreign students, tuition fees for medical courses start from RM135,000 for the entire six years of education.
