WE received overwhelmi­ng response to the topic: My Favourite Animal. Let’s hear what our young readers have to say:

“My dream animal is a koala bear. I think these animals are cute. Koala bears look like teddy bears. They like to sleep all the time,” writes Katie Lim Jien Yee, six.

Eight-year-old Rayna Kam Shin Rui says: “The elephant is the heaviest animal on land. It has a long trunk, with large floppy ears and wide thick legs.”

Seven-year-old Anna Ruth Oh Hui Hann says: “The rabbit is my favourite animal because I was born in the year of the rabbit. A female rabbit is called the doe whilst the male rabbit is a buck.”

Tan Shang Xuan, nine, writes:

“The viperfish has needle-like teeth. They vary in colour from green, silver, to black. These animals live deep in the ocean.”

Although dinosaurs are extinct, they are nine-year-old

Aiden Lai Shyan Yu’s favourite animal. “I love to watch dinosaur shows and play with my dinosaur toys. I think they were the best animals on earth.”

Tan Wen Liang, 11, writes: “The Pegasus is a mythical flying horse with wings. As one of the most recognised creatures in Greek mythology, it looks very beautiful.”

“Dolphins seem to be smiling and that is why I love them. Despite being sea creatures, they can hold their breath for only eight to ten minutes,” says Chang Zhi En ,10.

Aniq Narzan, five, writes: “The beautiful and powerful lion is my dream animal. It is part of the cat family.”

“Rabbits are cute because they don’t bite humans,” says Yap Shin Ee, seven.

Chan Jie Yi, 11, believes in the loyalty of dogs. “A dog is faithful and friendly. It is also

very playful.”

“If I could choose to be an animal, I would be a bird because it can fly freely,” says Chong Jia Xin ,11.

Eight-year-old Marcus Ng Jing Zhen writes: “The panda is my favourite animal. It eats bamboos. Pandas are found in China.”

“I adore butterflie­s because they have beautiful patterns on their wings,” says Lucille Liau ,11.

William Lee, 10, writes: “A tiger’s vision at night is six times better than that of humans. Hence the reason they wait for dark to hunt.” “The Tyrannosau­rus rex is a type of dinosaur known as T-Rex. I like it because of its tough and fierce nature,” says Julian Teoh ,11.
