Mercedes-Benz S 450 L
MERCEDES-BENZ Malaysia has refreshed it flagship line-up with four distinctive models aimed at high-net worth individuals with an outlook for refinement, performance and luxurious appointments.
The models are the Mercedes-Benz S 450 L with a price of RM699,888, the MercedesBenz S 560 Cabriolet (RM1.31mil), the Mercedes-AMG S 63 Coupe (RM1.46mil) and the Mercedes-Maybach S 560 (priced from RM1.4mil with further individualisation and personalisation available upon request).
All prices are on-the-road without insurance, zero rated GST. Prices are subject to change upon implementation of SST.
Standard across the S-Class range are such features as Distronic Plus semi-autonomous driving, Air Body Control suspension, Burmester Surround Sound system, Widescreen Cockpit with COMAND Online infotainment among others.
Speaking at the launch in Kuala Lumpur early this month, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia vice-president, sales and marketing passenger cars, Mark Raine said:
“The S-Class family is the definitive statement of luxury in it purest form. From the modern luxury of the S-Class limousine to the pair that is S-Class Cabriolet and the Mercedes-AMG S-Class Coupe offering bespoke luxury and performance luxury for the discerning connoisseur or driver, and of course the embodiment of ultimate luxury that is the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class; the S-Class family has something to fulfil every desire.”
He said the four vehicle “Pinnacle of Luxury” collection underlined the company’s position as a leading luxury lifestyle brand in the automotive segment.
Also present at the launch was MercedesBenz Malaysia president and chief executive officer Dr Claus Weidner.
Mercedes-Benz S 450 L
The locally assembled S 450 L AMG Line variant is powered by an all-new 3.0-litre V6 twin turbo engine developing 367hp with 500Nm of torque and paired to a 9G-Tronic automatic transmission.
Besides being smooth, the engine can propel the S 450 L from 0-100kph in 5.4 seconds.
It has class-leading features include Distronic Plus proximity control, Airmatic suspension, the Widescreen Cockpit with Comand Online infotainment, a Burmester Surround Sound system, and Multibeam LED headlights among others.
The new LED lamps with crystal-look tail lamps stand out and look like jewels to ensure a characteristic day and night design.
The S 450 L takes another big step towards autonomous driving and elevates Intelligent Drive to the next level as the Active Distance Control Distronic and Active Steering Assist now provide even more support for the driver to keep a safe distance while getting assisted steering.
Inside, the S 450 L is roomy with passengers getting plenty of legroom and ride comfort.
Mercedes-Benz S 560 Cabriolet
The new Mercedes-Benz S 560 Cabriolet is where contemporary luxury meets the classical appeal of open-top motoring.
The sports model is a statement of style and luxury with attractive touches such as the Swarovski crystals nestled within the headlamps and floating OLED taillights elements that adds sophistication to an already desirable silhouette and breathtaking appearance.
The S 560 Cabriolet offers the latest driving, safety and convenience technologies from the S-Class limousine including the new Energizing Comfort control, bringing together climate adjustment, lighting, music and even the seats to deliver a first-class sensory journey.
Refined performance comes courtesy of a new 4.0-litre biturbo V8, delivering 469hp with 700Nm while full-support Airmatic air suspension fitted as standard ensures comfort follows every thrilling ride.
With a top speed of 250kph it take only 4.6 seconds to go from 0-100kph.
Mercedes-AMG S 560 Coupe
Easily the most powerful and fastest model of the new line-up, the S 63 Coupe is the perfect driver’s car, offering brutal performance and superior dynamics.
It flaunts an undeniably strong presence with the signature AMG Panamericana grille with a new Jet Wing design for the front apron and air intakes.
Under the muscular bodywork is the ubiquitous 4.0-litre biturbo V8 engineered by AMG to unleash 612hp and an 900Nm of torque and transferring power to the rear wheels via a nine-speed AMG Speedshift MCT gearbox for a century sprint of just 4.2 seconds.
Ride standards befitting an S-Class along with supercar handling comes courtesy of AMG Ride Control+ suspension with adaptive adjustable damping – offering the perfect setup for leisurely grand touring comfort to sharp sportiness.
Mercedes-Maybach S 560
Hailed as the most opulent member of the S-Class family, the Maybach S 560 combines the perfection of the S-Class with the exclusivity of Maybach.
Individuality is elevated to new heights with such features as the grille with its vertical struts, optional two-tone paintwork and a selection of 20-inch wheels exclusive to the Maybach.
Presenting an interior experience second to none, unrivalled craftsmanship on the most exclusive materials comes to the fore with Maybach Exclusive black nappa leather upholstery with a choice of copper, gold or platinum-coloured topstitching while optional trim inserts appear in flowing lines of Magnolia wood.
Its Magic Body Control combines continuously adjustable dampers with Road Surface Scan that detects bumps ahead and makes instant suspension adjustments to retain a silky smooth ride.
While the S 560 is powered by a V8 biturbo engine, customers can also opt for a more powerful V12-engined S 650 variant.
