Registration for UK unis now open
THE value of a UK education extends beyond the qualification itself – the international experience a student goes through is unparalleled.
Every year, thousands of Malaysians choose hundreds of UK institutions as their destinations to further their studies in a wide variety of courses, from accountancy to zoology.
But becoming a UK student does not mean that you need to be a star-student.
Those who are ambitious and excel in secondary school will aim for courses and institutions that match their career choices.
However, there are hundreds of institutions in the UK that offer a wide variety of courses.
Regardless of your results and course preferences, there will be one that suits you.
Choosing a suitable institution should always revolve around your personal needs, choice of modules, funding constraints, preferred study methods and the environment.
As you will be spending from three to five years of your life at that institution, deciding on the one best suited for you is priority. Ultimately, you will want your UK experience to be as fun as possible and to excel in a course you know you love and do well in.
If you have just received your results this year and have yet to get an offer from a UK institution, it is still not too late to apply for the 2018/19.
Every year, UK universities goes through a process called “clearing”, prospective students are matched to university places that are yet to be filled.
You will be able to find courses ranging from business and engineering to animation in universities across the UK.
You might be matched to a similar course in the same university that you have applied to, or a course of your choice in a different university. All you need to have is your final results ready and an open mind.
UK university admissions officers and representatives can answer questions and assess you if you meet their requirements towards offering you a place.
Once they have confirmed and made an offer, you need to decide if you want to accept their offer.
If you do, you will have taken the first step towards starting life as a UK international student.
