SO, you want to be on top?

Then look no further than The Top Penang, a theme park, entertainment hub and retail space of sorts. Located at the top of Penang’s tallest building, Komtar, The Top Penang is where you can go to soak in magnificent views of the island city.

Besides that, there are other activities you can do at the venue too, including adventure-filled obstacle challenges and food hunting.

Why you should go

Need Instagram posts to explain what it feels like to be #blessed while standing at the top of the world? Here’s your chance.

The open-air Rainbow Walk at Level 68 offers a 360˚ view of Penang. There is a gorgeous photo opportunity at every corner and if you look down from the glass walkway – if you’re brave enough, that is – you’d feel like walking on air.

However, if observing the view from a height of 249m above ground in an open-air environment with invisible floors makes you feel jittery, then make your way to the Observatory Deck at Level 65 instead. The enclosed space still gives you front row seats to the best view in Penang, but without the glass walkway.

Be there in the evening in time for sunset and stay on for some pretty views of the island at night. Rainbow Walk entry ticket prices start from RM26.

What to do

Once you’ve made it to The Top Penang and taken a number of selfies, you can check out what else the place has to offer.

There’s the The Gravityz Obstacle Challenge at Level 65 with six different types of rope courses to tackle. Start off by walking outside the building on a designated platform. Then, work your way towards a flying fox obstacle and finally, head to a balancing bed-like platform at the edge of the building. Now, how’s that for a literal walk in the clouds?

Ticket prices for this start from RM99.

Apart from that, visitors can enjoy other activities like the Ocean Explorer 5D exhibit, a dizzying Magic Mirror Maze and the 7D Discovery Motion Theater. You can also have a buffet meal at the Top View Restaurant and Lounge.

Who will like it

Thrillseekers or anyone whose bucket list includes conquering a fear of heights will get a kick out of the gravity-defying obstacle course at The Top Penang.

Holidaymakers and families looking for a one-stop destination centre with unique activities and unforgettable dining options can also check this place out.

Getting there

The Top Penang in Komtar is located in the heart of George Town. Grab and taxi services are available in Penang but if you’re staying in the city itself, it would actually be a good idea to just take a leisurely walk there as there are many things to see and experience around the area.
