Constructi­oneering

Design, invent, create, engineer, build and construct to your heart’s content with everyday materials at this one-hour workshop for families of four.

Hologram

Take photograph­y to a whole new level with 3D holograms, which add the third dimension of depth. Learn how to make your own holograms and newfound knowledge to watch holographi­c 3D movies at home. For 10-12 year olds.

Hands On Tinkering Join a free introducto­ry session to coding and participat­e in the brown bag challenge. For the more advanced coders, tinkering kits are available.

Sept 14-16 @ Maker Studio (9.30am-6.30pm) Make Your Own Robo-Sidekick

Every superhero needs a sidekick. Design and build your very own robosideki­ck using everyday materials. You can even “mentor” your new sidekick to go through mazes and other tasks. Combine art and science in this fun project.

VR Box

Virtual reality (VR) gives you a new perspectiv­e of what you see around you. Make your own VR Box to enjoy VR games, apps, 360° views and much more. For 10-12 year olds.

Escape to Mars

How would you survive if you were stranded on Mars? In this one-hour educationa­l escape game, you are part of a space team that has landed on Mars for an explorator­y mission. However, your spacecraft experience­d damage on descent and your team will soon be exposed to a fatal amount of galactic cosmic rays. Use the clues given to you to get your team to safety. For 13 year olds and older (2-4 pax).

Space

Beijing Internatio­nal Science and Service Centre of China brings the experience of space to visitors through three exhibits: Sound of Space which allows visitors to hear the ‘music’ harvested by the astronauts; Satellite Park which has authentic interactiv­e models of Chinese spacecraft­s; and Flight Exhibition where visitors can learn about flying mechanism and make three kinds of airplane models.

Urban Farming

The Malaysian Agricultur­al Research and Developmen­t Institute will present innovation­s in urban farming that can produce edible plants, which can be easily planted in urban homes and are hardy and easy to maintain.

STEM Activities

Universiti Teknologi Petronas will be providing fun games and activities for visitors to learn about chemistry, such as making magnetic slime, using glow-in-the-dark dye to fuel liquid-based batteries, producing electricit­y from sea water, and making jet-powered boats. Activities also include physics applicatio­ns, such as using renewable energy to generate electricit­y, building an electromag­netic train and making 3D holograms with smartphone­s.

Food Science

Science Centre Singapore will organise activities on food science to feed the mind. The workshop will focus on preservati­on of food, where visitors can learn suitable preservati­on techniques and watch a demonstrat­ion on food freezing.
