The Star Malaysia - Star2

To infinity and beyond

-

HAVE you imagined what life is like beyond earth? Our solar neighbourhood is indeed an exciting place.

The solar system is filled with planets, moons, stars, asteroids, and many other exciting objects.

If I had the chance to explore the solar system, I’d start with Mars, which has the highest mountains and deepest canyons among the planets.

Next up would be Saturn, just so I could take a closer look at the rings around it.

Lastly, I would go to planet Neptune because of the beautiful blue shade it appears in.

Starchild asked readers what planets they would go to if they had their own solar system tour. Let’s hear from them.

“If I could go to any planet, Saturn would be my first choice. I like to imagine the rings on that planet spinning like a merry-goround,” says Natalie Ang XinYan, seven.

Six-year-old Branson Tan Khai Foong dreams of going to planet Venus. “The hottest planet in the solar system is Venus. Certainly, my pizza would never go cold there! Venus is also a rocky planet along with Mercury, Earth and Mars.”

Nicole Ong Hui Ting, nine writes: “I am very adventurous and so I would like to travel to all the planets. I always look out to the solar system with my telescope, hoping to land on one of the planets.”

“Even though the other planets are interesting, Earth will always be my favourite. The beautiful planet is filled with trees, mountains and wonderful animals. Human life can be sustained here on Earth and because of that I can enjoy life with my family and friends,” says Loshana Laksmi Mathuraganapathy, six.

“Whether Pluto is considered a snowball or a dwarf planet, I still wish to go there. I find everything about it quite interesting,” says Ling Khim Zem, eight.

Eight-year-old Thye Ju Quan enjoys reading about the solar system. “I want to visit each and every planet, not forgetting the stars too.”

“I wish to go to six planets; Mercury, Venus, Jupiter, Saturn and Uranus. I would leave the Malaysian flag flying high in all of them,” says Tah Li Ren, eight.

Rachel Chong, nine says, “I love our wonderful Earth and it is my favourite planet.”
