A smart salute
MR Porter is helping Ralph Lauren celebrate its 50th birthday in style. The luxury retailer has teamed up with the American heritage brand on a capsule menswear collection that revisits some of the label's signature pieces, WWD reports.
“This collection reflects many of my inspirations and offers different ways of self-expression,” American designer Lauren told the publication. “The world is open to us, and each day is an occasion to reinvent ourselves.”
“His collections resonate around the world with a diverse group of people, from kids who wear it as streetwear through to company execs in chalk striped suits,” added Toby Bateman, managing director of Mr Porter. “This unique collection reflects the DNA of each of the Ralph Lauren brands, and takes direct inspiration from the archives.”
The collection, which will launch online on Oct 15, spans ready-to-wear, footwear and accessories, with highlights including tuxedo jackets, leather hiking boots and a military coat.
The move comes weeks after Ralph Lauren staged a catwalk extravaganza to mark its milestone anniversary during New York Fashion Week in September. It has been a big year for the designer, who was honoured with the Members Salute at the 2018 CFDA Fashion Awards in June, as an acknowledgement of his contribution to the fashion industry. – AFP Relaxnews
