Good over evil

-

A long time ago, there lived a wise old chief named Isaac. He was ill and dying. He had to pass on his crown to one of his two sons, Hope and rash.

Hope, the first son, was a fierce warrior with a heart of gold. He believed in working for the good of the nation.

rash was selfish and rude, but intelligent.

When the old chief died, villagers were given the choice to vote for the son to succeed him.

rash knew he was not going to be chosen. to win over his people, he secretly bribed the villagers with lots of money.

those who refused the money were threatened by rash’s henchmen. they would be executed or face a life sentence in jail.

Many villagers accepted the money reluctantly while some people suffered as their loved ones were killed.

rash was convinced he would be chosen as head of the state.

Unfortunately, rash’s plan worked. the evil man was crowned the new village chief.

When Hope learnt the truth, he was furious. He chose his best warriors to wage a war against his only brother.

the next day, Hope overthrew rash and sentenced him to life imprisonment.

Villagers rejoiced when Hope was chosen as head of the community. – By Isaac Lim Jien How, 10.
