The Putra Brand award is a significan­t award that reflects the people’s choice. To emerge as the Brand of the Year vindicates all of the effort we’ve done over recent years. What we want to do is build on customer’s confidence -- there’s a lot of things we’re doing today and that means that the effort that we’ve put in has finally paid off. We would like to thank all Malaysians for their trust and confidence in the brand. That is something all of us at Petronas are very proud of.

In the retail oil and gas business, brand presence isn’t everything ... but what’s more important is us, not just the brand value. So customers are very important. The Brand of the Year award will motivate us further.

At the end of the day, our number one priority is to enhance customer experience. We believe that when customers are happy, the brand value will go up.

We are thrilled and excited, and this award doesn’t just belong to Petronas Dagangan, it belongs to the whole Petronas family.

There are many things we’re doing to enhance brand presence. Our stations are being upgraded to make sure that customer’s “touch & feel” is good.

Secondly, we are going digital in a very big way. Digital and data analysis are important to get a feel of what customers want.

The skill-set of our crew at the stations has also been enhanced. We intend for the whole journey of our customers to be memorable and efficient from their first visit until they leave the station.

Consumers today are spoiled for choices. Apart from the product alone, they want to see brand value and presence. When we sell the brand, we don’t just sell the product, we want to sell solutions to our customers too.

We believe that customers today are more sophistica­ted; they don’t just look at commoditie­s anymore, they look at the experience of it.

Petronas is happy with where we are today, but we think there is more work to do to consistent­ly maintain our brand value and presence.
