TO JOIn the financial or business world or become a professional accountant, the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) would be your ideal pathway.

The world’s leading body for professional accountants founded in 1904, ACCA holds a track record of experience, innovation and excellence in providing globally recognised accounting and finance qualifications, complemented by modern thinking and backed by diverse and global memberships.

The Professional Accountancy Centre (PAC) at KDU College, which was set up in 2008 offers Certified Accounting Technician (CAT) and ACCA courses. Within a year, it was awarded Gold status and is now celebrating its sixth year being awarded the Platinum Status Approved Learning Partner by ACCA.

The CAT qualification provides fundamental knowledge and technical skills to fulfil an accounting role at technician level – a fast track towards becoming a qualified accountant. It is awarded by ACCA and is globally recognised. Most students are able to complete their CAT within a year and continue with the ACCA programme for another two.

ACCA’s unique partnership with Oxford Brookes University allows students to obtain a Bachelor of Science (hons) in Applied Accounting upon completion of the ACCA Fundamentals Level, ACCA ethics and Professional Skills Module and passing a Research and Analysis Project.

Moving forward with recent changes to the ACCA qualification, KDU’s ACCA programme prepares and facilitates students to acquire the full range of competencies financial professionals need with an emphasis on technical knowledge, cognitive capabilities and soft skills.

Classroom lessons are complemented with guest lectures by industry leaders as well as additional programmes. The specially designed employability enhancement Programme (eeP) equips students with the prerequisite skills to ace Professional Level studies while also enhancing their employability. There are also opportunities to attend free accounting software training.

“With the ACCA programme’s exam-oriented nature, we are adamant it is equally important to be competent in soft skills. With the eeP, KDU’s ACCA graduates will not only have a strong suit of technical knowledge but also excellent teamwork, communication and problem-solving skills making them top-notch candidates to excel and succeed in their career,” said KDU PAC academic department head, Chan Tze Kang.

PAC students are encouraged to join the PAC Club to learn more about planning, facilitating, managing and events or activities leadership. This helps to build rapport and camaraderie among the students and equip them with skills to be better prepared to join the workforce.

Scholarships are available for SPM school-leavers and UeC holders for the January 2019 semester.
