TOURISM Selangor has identified top attractions that travellers to the state should visit next year. The venues range from a water theme park to a fruit farm and an outlet mall.
These places and experiences have all emerged rapidly recently, according to the state’s tourism agency. They include places like the Royal Klang Heritage Walk, Sky Mirror, Gua Damai Extreme Park, Bangi Wonderland, Tanjung Sepat, Selangor Fruits Valley and Mitsui Outlet Park KLIA.
Plans are also underway to make the state’s ecotourism more accessible. Potential areas include Kuala Selangor, Sabak Bernam and Hulu Selangor.
Tourism Selangor general manager Noorul Ashikin Mohd Din said they are engaging with stakeholders to maintain quality recreational infrastructure for both locals and visitors alike.
“Recreational tourism comprises a very important component in maintaining the fabric of rural Selangor and we commend all the efforts that go into planning and developing these initiatives,” she said.
Noorul Ashikin added that there’s a need to maintain and preserve natural assets such as waterfalls, beaches and recreational forests.
Moving forward, Selangor is ramping up efforts to attract more visitors and help drive major economic growth next year. Tourism generates more than RM5bil in tourism receipts every year.
“We are grateful for the tourism partners and industrial players we work with to help boost our promotion initiatives and generate that kind of income for Selangor,” she said.
Other key tourism themes for Selangor include medical tourism, edutourism, community tourism and increasing accommodation capacity. – Chester Chin
