Great demand for accountants
A CAREER in accounting is in high demand for all types of businesses. Accountants are required by both small businesses and large multinational companies to plan budgets, provide financial advice, prepare annual financial statements and carry out auditing of the company’s accounts efficiently.
Realising the need for trained and skillful accounting personnel, Management and Science University (MSU) College through its School of Business Management and Professional Studies (SBMP) offers the Diploma in Accounting for those who have completed their Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM/SPMV).
Students will be exposed to principles of accounts and auditing, as well as the latest developments in the fields of economy, management, marketing, finance and insurance.
The curriculum ensures that students will be competent not only in carrying out accounting transactions, but also in providing advice on complex issues when it comes to making tough business decisions.
This three-year course lays a strong foundation for students to master theory and techniques in understanding financial activities. Areas of study include economy, information technology and accounting law. Job opportunities are available in the government sector as well as the private sector, especially in banks.
With three credits in mathematic, science and any other subject in their SPM/SPMV or recognised certificates, students can expect a conducive learning environment and high-calibre lecturers with years of experience in the field.
MSU College students can further their studies by transferring credit to pursue a bachelor programme in their second year at MSU itself through its Faculty of Business Management and Professional Studies.
Students are also encouraged to obtain further accounting certification like ACCA or CAT to increase their earning power.
Other programmes offered by SBMP are includes Early Childhood Education, Management and English Language Teaching.
