988 CNY goodies galore
Local Chinese language radio station 988 launches new web series along with 2019 CNY album.
WITH Chinese New Year just around the corner, local Chinese-language radio station 988 has got a plethora of CNY goodies in store for its fans and loyal listeners.
These include three music videos, a four-episode web series, a five-track album, and a 2019 desktop calendar, among others.
The four-part web series is set in the Qing Dynasty imperial palace, and filled with the sort of palace intrigue that is so popular with drama fans now. The tale revolves around the celebration of Chinese New Year, when the envoys and ministers send gifts to the Emperor (Chan Fong).
The Crown Prince (Jason Poon), Fourth Prince (Danny One) and Eighth Prince (PM Wang) search far and wide for rare treasures to be presented to their father, but as the Crown Prince presents his gift, something rather shocking happens, giving rise to rumours within the palace.
The other 988 radio deejays in the web series include Cheryl Lee (Crown Princess), Min Ng (4th Lady), Cassey Soo (8th Lady), Fish Poh (Eunuch Gau), Sean Lee (Siu Kwai-Zi), Brandon Chew (Nian Gengyao), Chloe Low (palace maid), Jiun Too (palace maid), Cynthia Tan (eunuch), Denise Chuah (palace maid), Alsen Lee (courtier), Mike Tan (courtier), Stephany Yu (eunuch) and Stacey Chai (eunuch).
During a launch party attended by fans and media last week, the deejays shared amusing stories of the fun they had shooting the web drama and music videos.
All’s Good For A Great New Year will premiere on Jan 1, 2019 at 9pm, with new episodes airing every night for four consecutive days. The web series will be available on 988’s official website (988.com.my), Youtube channel (youtube.com/ user/988ziduodi) and Facebook page (fb.com/988.my), as well as SMG Entertainment’s video-on-demand platform dimsum (dimsum.my).
In addition to the CNY web series, 988 will also be releasing its 10th CNY album Step Up, Pick Up For A Great New Year, comprising a collection of five new CNY songs: All’s Good For A Great New Year, New Year’s Here, Happy New Year, Happy Spring Break, Peach Blossoms In Full Bloom ,and Pick Up For A Great New Year.
988 has also released three music videos for All’s Good For A Great New Year, New Year’s Here. Happy New Year ,and Happy Spring Break. Fans can watch them via 988’s official website, Youtube channel and Facebook page.
The album is available for purchase on Asian online shopping mall Shopee via the 988 official shop (shopee.com.my/988_smrg). The package contains a CNY CD, an exclusive 2019 desk calendar and a limited edition cotton eco bag. The first 100 purchases will enjoy a special price of RM25 (normal price RM30).
