Magical wonderland
An enchanting show is brewing in the waters this seasonal holiday.
CHRISTMAS is getting even more magical at Aquaria KLCC with Malaysia’s first underwater magic show.
The Aquacadabra show, certified by The Malaysia Book Of Records, will make its debut on Christmas Day, with encore performances on Dec 29 and 30.
The 15-minute production is presented by The Madgicians, a team of accomplished local magicians.
Magician Desmond Ng said performing underwater means that the team has to work with a more limited set of magic principles.
“We took existing magical principles and adapted them for an underwater environment. When you are inside the water, your motions will be very slow and you feel almost weightless.
“We went through a lot of trial and error to create acts that would be suitable for the show,” said Ng.
The show features five thrilling acts that incorporate fun tricks and plenty of interactive engagement with the audience.
Alex Tee, who assists Ng in interacting with visitors, said gruelling training took place to ensure that the show goes smoothly.
“As Desmond is inside the aquarium, he is unable to hear what is happening outside. We had to make sure that all the proper cues and gestures are in place,” Tee explained.
Aquawalk group managing director and chief executive officer Datuk Simon Foong said Aquacadabra fits in perfectly with Aquaria’s annual festive lineup.
“Every year during Christmas, we try to do something special for the children and all our visitors.
“For many people, Christmas is a magical experience. By doing a magic show, we hope to give our visitors something amazing to look forward to,” he said.
Foong added that Aquaria KLCC has big plans in store next year with a renovation of the venue.
Aquacadabra is Aquaria KLCC’s sixth entry in The Malaysia Book Of Records.
