Dynasty Season Two
BLINK your eyes and you might just miss a piece of mindblowing revelation, a back getting stabbed or a long-lost family member showing up out of nowhere.
In Dynasty – the 2017 reboot of the 1980s soap opera of the same name revolving around oil tycoon Blake Carrington and his, let’s just say, complicated family – things move faster than you can spell s-c-a-n-d-a-l.
Now in its second season, the show is hitting the accelerator harder than ever. Just four episodes in, the biggest bombshell of the season yet has dropped – the Carringtons’ beloved butler Anders hasn’t just been a father figure but a biological father to one of the Carrington kids!
While I love the dramatic twists and turns taking place each week, the show might want to slam the brakes on some of its developments.
At the end of the first season, Blake’s wife Cristal Flores is murdered. In the second episode of the new season, there’s a new girl in the picture, Cristal Jennings, whom Blake immediately takes a liking to. And when I mean immediate, I mean Blake proposing to her by Episode Seven kind of immediate.
The introduction of Replacement Cristal could be smoother and more realistic. There’s just no time for her to grow on viewers. Fast-paced is one thing, rushed is another. – Kenneth Chaw
