Riverdale Season Three
THE third season of Riverdale is upon us and frankly, I’m not quite sure what to make of it.
In its first two seasons, the show’s villains have always been human. But, in this new season of Riverdale – a TV reimagining of characters from Archie Comics – it is something else.
It opens with the kids at Riverdale High sucked in to playing a seemingly harmless but undeniably deadly board game – Griffins And Gargoyles.
Players at advanced levels come to a point where they would take their own life at the instruction of the mysterious Gargoyle King, a character central to the game.
Who is the Gargoyle King? Is he a supernatural being?
And if so, will viewers be turned off by this new supernatural element?
I, for one, hope things remain non-supernatural simply because this isn’t what I signed up for!
Then there’s Archie and Jughead who left Riverdale.
It’s an interesting turn of events for sure, but with these two out of town and unsure of where they’re headed to, I don’t see where the show itself is heading.
Still, kudos to its writers for taking a risk on these unexpected storylines. I just hope it pays off. – KC
Riverdale Seasons One to Three are available on Netflix.
