German footwear brand offers skincare
BIRKENSTOCK has a long history steeped in tradition which dates back to 1774, offering high-quality products that promote and maintain the natural functions of the foot.
With the invention of the Blue Footbed and the deep cork footbed, Birkenstock revolutionised the shoe sector and laid the foundation stone for today’s comfort shoe industry.
Known for their contoured corks and rubber footbed shoes, the German footwear brand is now delving into cosmetics.
For a footwear brand, it was only natural for them to kick off their cosmetic section by introducing skincare for the foot.
The products – developed and manufactured in Germany – under their Cosmetic section, have six product categories: Natural Comfort, Natural Moisture, Natural Freshness, Natural Shapes, Natural Age Control and Natural Man. So, aside from body care there will be facial skincare products as well.
These skincare products all come adorably packaged in a clean design complete with a cork cap or bottom, paying homage to the brand’s signature material.
The cosmetics are stated to be natural, 100% vegan, free of animal testing and free of paraffin, silicone, paraben, synthetic ingredients and PEG.
All the skincare products contain cork oak extract – which offers anti-ageing properties – and highly effective, natural ingredients that stabilise the moisture balance, improve elasticity and protect against external effects.
Among the products are the Moisturizing Foot Balm, Cooling Foot Cream and Nourishing Leg and Foot Oil.
The Moisturizing Foot Balm contains avocado oil which provides and maintains moisture, promotes cell regeneration and offers natural sun protection, while the Cooling Foot Cream revitalises tired, swollen feet with its menthol active ingredient extracted from peppermint.
For stressed feet and legs, the cork oak extract and elderberry seed oil in the Nourishing Leg and Foot Oil provides skin with intensive moisture, improve elasticity and reduces skin roughness. – Sandra Low
