Cook with the Modern Family

-

FAN of the TV comedy Modern Family will now be able to channel their favourite characters in their kitchen with a new cookbook inspired by some of the memorable food-related moments throughout the series.

Released in time for the start of its seventh season, The

Modern Family Cookbook isa compilation of 100 recipes which fans will recognise as foods that are essentially straight from the script.

For instance, there’s Mitchell’s version of the PB and J sandwich – pear, brie and jamon – which he brings to Cam as a show of support when his partner takes on the role of new musical director for the Franklin Middle School play.

The spaghetti sauce at the centre of a Mothers’ Day family drama in season two is also featured.

And in addition to the usual tomatoes, garlic, onions and basil, Jay's recipe requires a tablespoon of love, one cup of warmth, and 175 pounds of tenderness. The recipe serves one small boy.

There’s also Phil’s Traditional First-Day-of-School Pancakes; Claire’s Spooky Pumpkin Cheese Ball with Crudites; Jay’s Sloppy Jays; Gloria’s Carnitas al Diablo; and The Dunphys' Roast Turkey with Sausage Cornbread Stuffing. The Modern Family Cookbook

is the latest in a long line of cookery books inspired by popular TV shows which include recipe collections for The Sopranos, Desperate Housewives, Mad Men, and Downton Abbey.

The series narrowly missed making TV history recently, when it lost out on what would have been its sixth Emmy award for best comedy series.
