IF you love theme parks, then you’d probably love spending some time at the Skytropolis Funland at Genting Highlands. The park is Resorts World Genting’s newly-refurbished indoor entertainment centre. Launched last December, the park offers fun and adventure for people of all ages.

Best of all, the park is indoors so you won’t be deterred by unfavourable weather.

Pay-per-ride tickets are priced at RM10 on weekdays, and RM15 during weekends, school holidays, public holidays and on the eve of a public holiday.

Why you should go

Offering over 37,000sq m of fun space spread across four floors, this indoor theme park is like a fantasy funland where both adults and kids can play together, go on thrilling adventures and rides. Colourful neon lights, large LED screens on walls and ceilings (which measure 50m in length) and vibrant music contribute to the carnival party-like atmosphere.

There is also the Eagle Landing Zipline, the longest in a shopping mall in Malaysia, which stretches 200m across the park.

Thirteen new rides have been introduced, with nine more to come. The indoor theme park includes The Void, a hyper-reality centre, Imaginatrix which combines physical rides with virtual reality, and the BigTop Video Games Park, a circus-themed arcade.

There is a food section too where you can have desserts and snacks.

What to do

Kids can start with the classical carousel Ride ’Em Round, or sit in rotating pods at Whirly Bugs. Boo Boo Bump is a spin on the classic bumper cars, while Loop De Loop whirls around an illuminated iron-wrought Genting Tower.

For adults, there are rides that the whole family can enjoy together. Copper Express is a vintage train that will give you a tour of Skytropolis Funland as it whizzes around a 61m track. Space Cadets elevates and spins you around for an exploration of the solar system. Go on a regal spin on the Royal Carousel, or pretend to be like Phileas Fogg on his Journey Around The World In 80 Days in the Balloon Race.

For adrenaline junkies, take it up a notch with thrill rides like the Bumper Boss, a super-sized version of bumper cars and Sky Tower, which takes passengers to the top of a tower, only to drop down at an exhilarating speed.

Spin Crazy shows the world from very different angles where up is down and right is left, while Power Surge is an intense high-flying ride that will have you going round and round and upside down, literally.

Who will like it

Skytropolis offers something for everyone and it is a fun place to visit for the whole family. The indoor theme park is also suitable for groups of friends. Some of the attractions within Skytropolis Funland might also be suitable for team building events.

Getting there

Skytropolis Funland is located at the First World Plaza in Resorts World Genting, Genting Highlands, Pahang. If you’re not driving there, you can always take the resort’s bus from the 1Utama Bus Terminal in Petaling Jaya.
