WE are paying tribute to women with our WOW-Women do Wonders campaign again this year. From now till the end of March, we’ll be highlighting stories that show the difference women make in our lives and in society, and featuring women who do wonders.

To commemorate International Women’s Day on March 8, Star Media Group, with our campaign sponsors Ramsay Sime Darby Health Care and Bursa Malaysia Berhad, will bring you the Women’s Fiesta on the weekend of March 16 and 17 at the Starling Mall in Petaling Jaya, Selangor.

Join us at the Fiesta, where over 86 exhibitors will be showcasing a wide range of products from categories such as beauty, fashion, food, education, wealth and household appliances. The aim of the Fiesta is to support women entrepreneurs and recognise their varied abilities and contributions.

Apart from the bazaar, the Fiesta will also feature interesting talks, workshops and activities for women that celebrate women’s voices and uncover their inspiring stories of trials, hope and success in their professional and everyday life.

In the talk, What No One In Business Will Ever Tell You, women entrepreneurs will share their stories, with frank insights on the challenges they faced in starting out and running their businesses. They are the founders of social enterprise The Picha Project Lee Swee Lin, Lim Yuet Kim, Suzanne Ling; co-founder of The Accidental Bakers, Ee-Lyn Tan and founder of fitness apparel brand Ash Be Nimble, Hui Matthews.

There will also be a lifestyle talk – Living Life On Your Own Terms – where successful women share how they achieve work-life balance in their lives. They are the founders of Mimpki Kita, sisters Nurul Afidah, Amirah Hanis, Fatimah Ani and the founder of La Juiceria, Anabelle Co-Martinent.

A theme that will be running through the talks will be how women can break free from gender stereotyping and build a label free culture. Visitors attending the talks will be eligible for lucky draws with some interesting prizes up for grabs.

There will also be a health talk titled Keeping Abreast of Breast Health by Dr Tan Gie Hooi as well as on the Preconceptions and Truths about Breast Cancer Screening by Dr Jaspal, both from from Ramsay Sime Darby Health Care.

Those who are keen to learn about investing must attend the talk by Bursa Malaysia titled Let’s Get Honest About Money Issues which will guide women on how to invest and build their wealth.

There will also be workshops including a self defense and martial arts workshop by mixed martial arts star Ann “Athena” Osman that should really not be missed. There will also be yoga and zumba sessions and workshops on creating a moss terrarium.
