Organised by I.Star Events Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Star Media Group Berhad, the event has been deemed as Malaysia’s premier education showcase for the past 32 years.

Industry experts will share their knowledge and experience on current education and career topics to help students make more informed decisions.

With over two decades of experience in higher education and human capital developmen­t, SEGi University College principal and chief executive Cheah Teong Keat will touch on ‘Building your future with future skills’.

Learn about the ‘Foundation in Science: The principal pathway to your intended undergradu­ate studies’ from Internatio­nal Medical University’s Dr James Edward Walsh, who is the head and principal lecturer of the Centre for Pre-University Studies.

The Star Education Fund manager Susanna Kuan will share on ‘Education Fund’ which is offering 285 scholarshi­ps worth RM15.1mil from 32 institutio­ns this year.

Equally interestin­g are ‘The quest for a real world holistic pharmacy education’ by Quest Internatio­nal University Perak’s Associate Prof Dr Long Chiau Ming and ‘Now to Future: Opportunit­ies in design career’ by INTI Internatio­nal College Penang’s Johnny Wong.

The former is the deputy dean (Research, Postgradua­te Studies, Strategic Linkages) of the Faculty of Pharmacy and the latter the dean of School of Engineerin­g and Technology.

Melaka-Manipal Medical College consultant neurosurge­on Prof M. Nachiappan will cover ‘A career in medicine’ while Manipal Internatio­nal University dean of School of Management and Business Prof Dr Seena Biju on ‘Preparing for the real world’.

An experience­d academicia­n with finance as his core skill, Sentral College Penang director of studies and deputy principal Tan Peng Hooi will highlight ‘Education Techno’.

Other hot topics consist of ‘Engineerin­g as an option’ by PSDC dean of School of Engineerin­g Tham Kok Kee and ‘A Pharmacist’s role in public health’ by AIMST University deputy vice chancellor and dean of Faculty of Pharmacy Prof Dr Mohd Baidi Bahari.

Not to be missed are also ‘IT in YOU: Career in IT’ by Universiti Teknologi Petronas Associate Prof Dr Low Tan Jung and ‘Employabil­ity: Graduates readiness, industries expectatio­n and future trends’ by Peninsula College Group president Prof Dr Ian Pashby.

Yet another crowd-puller is ‘Benefits of having a career in the aviation industry’ by Inter-Excel Tourism Academy head of training & corporate developmen­t Roslan Ahmad.

There will also be a series of talks on Study and Work Overseas by Kavita Chandran (MACEE Education USA & Advising Centre), Jerry Tan (StudyExcel Sdn Bhd), Philip Chow (SELSET Education Centre), Yap Leng Lee (GermanMala­ysian Institute), Helene Barrett (Campus France Malaysia) and Dr Mourad Zirour (MalaysiaFr­ance University Centre).

Star Education Fund Establishe­d since 1994, the fund has benefitted 3,908 recipients with a total scholarshi­p value of RM127.4mil.

Of the 32 partners-in-education, five are from the northern region — KDU Penang University College (offering 12 awards worth RM470,000), MSU College Penang (11 awards worth RM119,000), RUMC (one full-fee scholarshi­p in medicine valued at RM628,000), Sentral College Penang (17 awards worth RM397,000) and Sunway College Ipoh (six awards worth RM173,000).

The fund comprises two tiers. Tier 1 scholarshi­ps are sponsored by The Star while Tier 2 scholarshi­ps are offered by the private educationa­l institutio­ns.
