The Star Malaysia - Star2

Realising your creative dreams

-

FOUNDED in 1987, Equator College is Penang’s most established arts and creative design college.

Over the past 32 years, it has produced many notable graduates who have since carved a name in the creative scene. The college has also accomplished many ‘firsts’ in the industry.

Students should take note that Equator is the only specialised arts and creative design college in the northern region with a five-star rating under the MOE MyQuest College Based Ranking.

This denotes that the college is able to offer the necessary facilities, besides recognition for its programmes and graduates.

Equator has just launched the first Diploma in Computer Aided Design & Drafting CADD (building design), one of the hottest new components that is highly sought after in Malaysia and abroad.

These graduates will be the key people coordinating the multidiscipline collaborations between architects, engineers and other consultants in building projects of the future.

As the world moves towards smart and eco-friendly buildings and technology, CADD graduates will be responsible for creating building simulations that will predict how lighting, temperature, humidity and air intake will occur in the team’s design.

What is exciting is that students need only 2.5 years to complete the diploma (inclusive of internship) before moving on to fast-paced careers that await them.

Equator is now offering the Diploma in Marketing Communication with a twist!

The syllabus includes interesting subjects like photography, digital illustration and computer graphics to focus on the element of creativity that encourage students to think out of the box, which is a key element for business success.

This is a total departure from most traditional marketing courses offered elsewhere. Students are expected to be competent in areas such as e-commerce, copywriting and even Interactive Marketing Communications, to name a few.

Upon completion of the diploma programmes in Penang, Equator offers links to 14 esteemed institutions of higher learning in the United Kingdom, New Zealand, Australia, Taiwan and Thailand for those who wish to go abroad.

This is the widest range of universities offered by any arts and creative design college in the state. Students are truly spoilt for choice not only in terms of budget and location but also specialisation.

Good news for those keen on pursuing their degree locally. The college is on the verge of signing a second agreement with Universiti Sains Malaysia to offer a second degree that may be completed in Penang. Follow this new development on www.equator.edu.my

Students who register from March 9 to 24 for all the diploma and certificate courses are entitled to a RM200 rebate.
