Shaaban’s book will be in the spotlight
SHAABAN Hussin, a former leading Malaysian Touring pro, will be in attendance at the Maybank Championship, busy raising awareness of teh importance of junior golf and signing autographed copies his recently released book titled Shaaban Hussin – Jatub bangun seorang Juara.
Shaaban lost his left leg in an unfortunate road accident in March 2016. Undeterred, he underwent rehabilitation and has since had a prosthetic limb fitted.
He returned to golf as a coach later that year and now provides high-level training for competitive golfers looking to progress to the elite level and ultimately the professional ranks.
Further still, he endeavours to make golf a more inclusive sport by introducing the game to juniors in rural areas. He travels to courses nationwide to teach the game to those who may not otherwise have the resources to learn it.
A member of Malaysia’s gold medalwinning team at the 2001 SEA Games, Shaaban also organises the annual Shaaban Hussin Cup on the SportExcel Junior Circuit to offer playing opportunities to aspiring young golfers.
At the Maybank tournament, Shaaban will be attendance throughout the week and autograph his book printed in Bahasa Malaysia.
He will be there from 10.30am onwards at the Village and Maybank marquee, along with the Tiger mascot.
During the Maybank Championship, spectators can utilise the MaybankHeart platform to support junior golf development by making a contribution.
MaybankHeart is an online crowd-funding platform that allows NGOs to increase their reach and spread their stories to a wider audience, via the group’s customer base.
In part, it provides the general public with an insight into specific projects by NGOs that need funding.
To date, the public has donated over RM1mil to 37 NGOs via MaybankHeart.
