On track to a sound pathway
POP Shuvit, Dejavoodoo Spells, Estranged, Noryn
Aziz, Gin Lee, Najwa Mahiaddin and the list goes on – each of these phenomenal music artistes and bands share one thing in common – they studied at ICOM (International College of Music), Asia’s leading college of contemporary music located in Setapak, Kuala Lumpur.
Are you a musician dreaming of being a successful songwriter, recording artiste, music producer or music director? Do you spend time practising your chops mastering that particular difficult guitar riff or work the metronome to death to keep time on the fast and intricate musical runs? Are you an awesome singer looking for a band to front? Is your interest instead in sound design, sound engineering, artiste management or running a concert tour programme?
Are you one of thousands of SPM graduates facing difficulty to choose a college to pursue your higher education? Are you in a conflict choosing between music and something traditional or safe that you can “fall back on”?
If you relate strongly to any one of the above questions, you need to come to the ICOM Open Day (and bring your family members with you). The Open Day would be held on Saturday, March 23 from 3pm-6pm on campus.
You have the opportunity to attend a range of workshops from songwriting and sound design for video games to artiste and concert management conducted by ICOM faculty, who are also music industry professionals. These workshops provide you with hard facts on the knowledge, technique and acumen required to work and function in the competitive music industry.
You would also be treated to live concerts by student bands, the ICOM POPs (ICOM’s super band) and a faculty ensemble.
You would visit the ICOM recording studio, ensemble rooms and sound production suite to see first-hand how music is rehearsed, recorded and produced. You would have the opportunity to attend programme info sessions (conducted every hour) to learn about ICOM’s degree and diploma programmes, student life and career opportunities upon graduation. Admissions counsellors would be on standby to help you complete the online application.
The music stars who came before you pushed the boundaries, broke the mould and defied the odds to become the luminaries they are today. It’s your turn now. What you decide today would determine your future in music. So, what are you waiting for? Confirm your attendance at the ICOM Open Day now at www.icom.edu.my
ICOM was incorporated in 1995, is approved by the Ministry of Education, accredited by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) and certified in ISO 9001:2015 quality management standard. ICOM offers diplomas and degrees in music business, sound production and professional music, in partnership with the Berklee College of Music (US) and the University of Wolverhampton (UK).
