Get ahead with the right pre-U programmes

Get a head start in academics and extracurri­cular activities at Sunway College with six pre-university programmes tailored to suit individual learning needs and academic pathways. In each programme, every attention is given to students’ developmen­t. Students will have opportunit­ies to learn essential skills such as teamwork and communicat­ion as well as leadership skills.

the six pre-university programmes are the Australian Matriculat­ion (AUSMAt) programme; Cambridge GCe A-Level; the Canadian Internatio­nal Matriculat­ion Programme (CIMP); Monash University Foundation Year (MUFY); Sunway Foundation in Arts (FIA) and Sunway Foundation in Science and technology (FISt).

Australian Matriculat­ion (AUSMAT)

In the November 2018 Western Australian Certificat­e of education (WACe) examinatio­ns, 10 AUSMAt students from Sunway College achieved Australian tertiary Admission Rank (AtAR) 99 and above, 214 students AtAR 90 and above, 408 with AtAR 80 and above.

Cambridge GCE A-Level

Over 191 students from the A Level programme at Sunway College achieved 100% pass in the November 2018 Cambridge Assessment Internatio­nal education (CAIe) examinatio­ns. 47.1% of the cohort achieved straight As with 16 students achieving 4A*.

Canadian Internatio­nal Matriculat­ion Programme (CIMP)

303 students received the Ontario Secondary School Diplomas (OSSD) for their successful completion of the Canadian Internatio­nal Matriculat­ion Programme (CIMP) at the end of last year. Among them, 27 achieved an academic average of 90% and above, with 143 achieving 80% and above earning them the title Ontario Scholar, an award granted by the Ontario Ministry of education.

Monash University Foundation Year (MUFY)

the Monash University Foundation Year programme at Sunway College is recognised by all local and Australian universiti­es.

the programme is an academic bridge for students’ transition­ing into undergradu­ate studies. the curriculum encourages analytical and critical thinking while the method of continuing assessment combined with final examinatio­ns focuses on the applicatio­n of knowledge.

In the December 2018 examinatio­ns, MUFY Sunway College Kuala Lumpur students were top in 11 out of 12 MUFY subjects with one overall top student who achieved an impressive overall score of 99.09%.

489 students achieved an overall High Distinctio­n score and 182 students received the Monash University Malaysia High Achiever Award with an average score of 89% and above.

Foundation in Arts (FIA)

“In my opinion, my most important takeaway from FIA wasn’t the academics but more of the lifestyle. I believe that the programme structure of FIA has helped prepare me for my degree, especially when it came to time management,” said Jared Chong tze Meng, alumnus of the Foundation in Arts (FIA) programme at Sunway College who is currently pursuing the BSc (Hons) Accounting and Finance at Sunway University. “the FIA programme has so much to offer. Beyond the academic structure of the programme, the lifestyle of FIA also plays a key role in one’s holistic developmen­tal growth. the humility of the lecturers and their willingnes­s to lend a helping hand never ceased to amaze me.”

Foundation in Science and Technology (FIST)

the Foundation in Arts and the Foundation in Science and technology are home grown programmes by Sunway College, developed to prepare students for tertiary studies and are direct pathways to undergradu­ate programmes at Sunway University.
