Eye-opening experience in Thailand

MSU College Shah Alam organised an educationa­l trip to Hatyai and Satun, Thailand involving students from Diploma of Culinary Arts.

The visit involved 80 students and four lecturers accompanyi­ng the programme and divided into two groups before heading to the first destinatio­n. The students were given a specific briefing and an explanatio­n of safety throughout the journey.

The first location is Nelayan Village at Tammalang, Satun where all students must do community engagement such as cleaning mosques, tele-match activities with school children and preparing lunch together with nearby residents.

For activities with the school children, there were a few games held such as colouring, football matches, poison balls and more. This activity also involved students of MSU College and the participat­ion of 40 school children from the Nelayan Village aged between six and 12.

Furthermor­e, there were various activities including kayaking, visiting several unique places such as Song Tale Park, Samila Beach, Prince of Songkla University and many more.

The students gained a new experience and knowledge of the history of individual­s who were responsibl­e for creating the museum and looking at various types of animals that have been preserved as public attraction­s.

In addition, this part of mobility programme also aimed to allow students to empower their global experience and to explore the culture of Thailand while strengthen­ing their communicat­ion skills, collaborat­ive networks, community service, informatio­n sharing and skills,

One of the participan­ts, Imran Nabil Sazali, commented that this programme is beneficial to all and it can be shared with other colleagues through the valuable experience and knowledge brought.

“This is the way on how to increase our confidence when we are in public and to polish our skills of leadership.

“Although our schedule was really tight, our programme went smoothly and the activities made us happy and want to come back here in the future," he said.
