OUR lives have become so busy that often we may find it easier to just go out and buy our meals rather than make them on our own. Food is always available in Malaysia and pretty affordable as well, so it may seem a more convenient option for most working adults. But are we shortchanging our families and ourselves in the process? Cooking at home has so many benefits, it’s surprising that we don’t do it more often.

Eating together as a family at the dining table is a chance to connect with the people you love, and if the food comes straight from your own kitchen there are added benefits. Healthier meals results in healthier bodies and minds, and ultimately makes one a more productive, happier individual. After all, when you cook at home, you’re literally in charge of what goes into your bodies and you can control the amount of sugar, salt and processed foods that you and your family eat every day. You’re also in control of how you cook your meals – less fat, more steaming and grilling! And this doesn’t necessarily equate to you having to toil over a hot stove. Cooking at home may not be as difficult as you think.

Panasonic’s NU-SC300BMPQ Superheated Steam Convection Oven (that’s the Big Cubie Oven) allows you to make scrumptious, healthy meals by reducing fat and cooking time, and preserving nutrients at the same time.

The oven is able to cook evenly and has a powerful browning effect.The high heat allows moisture to leave the surface of the food, giving it a crispy finish, and even when heated right through, the inside of your food remains plump and juicy. Now, wouldn’t you love to be able to cook delicious food, save money, and be able to bond at the dinner table?

With the Big Cubie Oven, cooking can be done efficiently too. All you have to do is prepare all your ingredients in advance – if you’re extra diligent go for fresh ingredients, herbs and spices – and pop everything into the oven and voila! You can choose to steam, stew, healthy fry, grill, bake, ferment, all with a wide range of oven temperatures (100°-230°C) and the oven also boasts multifunction steam convection features and 30 preset menus, which means you can do something different everyday! Start your delicious food discovery journey right away with the press of a button.

The oven uses Superheated Steam technology, which makes cooking really efficient.

Unlike normal steam which becomes fine water quickly when it drops in the air, Superheated Steam (which exceeds 100°C) does not turn into water drops in the air quickly, and is invisible. The oven also possesses a double-boiler system which generates ultra-high temperature steam which is injected into the oven cavity through injection holes, and a flat heater to maintain optimum temperature.

Healthy Steam, one of the functions on the Big Cubie Oven, uses this Superheated Steam technology. Healthy Steam comes with three levels of temperature settings:

i. 120°C – The right temperature for maintaining good nutrients and is suitable for all kinds of meat, vegetables and for reheating food;

ii. 150°C – The temperature to ensure food is properly cooked and safe for consumption. Best steaming temperature for seafood dishes;

iii. 190°C – High enough for best cooking results without sacrificing nutritional values. This temperature setting is ideal for all kinds of dishes with meat, poultry and seafood gratin.

With Superheated Steam technology, your cooking is sure to be delicious, healthy (excess oil and fat are eliminated, essential nutrients are preserved) and quick!

The oven has been designed to be user friendly with its sliding sensors, illuminated display and touch operations. Its simple design includes a 1000ml water tank, which enables you to steam or stew for a maximum of three hours.

And if you hate cleaning up after cooking, fret not. This oven even comes with five cleaning functions to ensure fast, convenient and one-touch solutions for hygienic upkeep everytime. You really cannot ask for more!

Remember, home cooking also allows you to preserve cultural knowledge and history as recipes are passed on from grandparents to parents and then on to children – and these are the best sort of recipes – not just healthy and homecooked, but supremely delicious as well! And don’t worry, if you don’t have a legacy of recipes to fall back on, Panasonic has your back too – the oven comes with a lovely cookbook, and there are new recipes online all the time. Try out the recipe you see on this page and you’ll see how easy it is to follow.
