DHA for better brain development
AS a parent, have you ever wished you could do more for your child’s future? You can start by helping them in their education and stay ahead in their studies.
A 2012 study in the UK titled Docosahexaenoic acid for reading, cognition and behavior in children aged 7-9 years: a randomized, controlled trial (the DOLAB Study) published in Plos One showed that supplementation with omega-3 DHA helped improve the reading and behaviour of underperforming children in mainstream primary schools.
The study involved a group of schoolchildren between seven and 10 years old. These children were physically healthy but underperforming in school. They were split into two groups, where one was given daily supplementation of omega-3
DHA and the other a placebo for
16 weeks.
After 16 weeks, the children underwent practical measures of reading, working memory and behaviour. The study found that the group that received supplementation improved in all measures, with the highest improvement observed in reading capabilities.
These capabilities are important for children’s future educational and occupational prowess. The fact is, omega-3 DHA for growth is important not only for babies and toddlers, but schoolchildren as well. However, schoolchildren can be really picky with foods, as are babies and toddlers.
There are easy solutions available to this problem. Suitable omega-3 supplements for children should be: Attractive
Delicious
Do not look like capsules or tablets
Without fishy odours
