GET ready to say hello and then goodbye to Karen Mok (pic) this Nov 30 at the Axiata Arena Bukit Jalil.

The Hong Kong pop star will be staging her first ever large-scale solo concert in Malaysia, which will also be her last one here. Mok has said she will be retiring from touring after the end of her current world tour.

Titled The Ultimate Karen Mok Show, this is not only her farewell tour, but also celebrates Mok’s 25 years in show business. The tour kicked off in Shanghai last year, and is expected to end this year, having covered 50 dates worldwide.

The concert will feature an innovative blend of musical genres, adorned with rich cultural elements such as tango, classical music, and traditional drums and ethnic dances with a strong oriental flavour.

Explaining the title of her tour, Mok told The Straits Times in Singapore during a recent interview that with a solo pop concert, there’s only so much one can do.

“These are your songs and this is your basket of material, so how differently can you regurgitate it every single time? So by now, after 25 years, this is the ultimate I can do with the material that I’ve got,” she said.

A two-time winner of Best Female Mandarin Singer at Taiwan’s Golden Melody Awards, Mok has released more than 30 music albums and is known for hits such as Yin Tian (Overcast) and Ta Bu Ai Wo (He Doesn’t Love Me). She is also an accomplished actress, having starred in over 50 films and TV series throughout the years.

Tickets for the Malaysian show go on sale today, 11am onwards, and are priced at RM228, RM328, RM428, RM538, RM638, and RM758 (VIP). For more information, visit www.starplanet.com.my.
