Pursuing an American education

-

THERE are numerous choices for students seeking an international or overseas education, and for different students, there are reasons why they may prefer to study in the US, UK or down south in Australia or New Zealand.

For those who dream of pursuing an education in the US, there are interesting facts worth considering.

The US education system combines high quality education with low cost. The cost of an American education is only a fraction of what other countries charge. Study business, engineering or over 500 other majors in the US – the world’s number one economy. With thousands of American companies in Asia, an American degree would certainly hold more value than any other degree.

Currently in Malaysia, over 200,000 Malaysians are directly employed by American companies.

Consider, too, that there are now over one million international students studying in the USt. Why do so many students choose to study in the US?

Many factors contribute to this but the three most important include, firstly, the low cost – some universities are now offering in-state tuition to international students. Most universities will offer scholarships.

Secondly, the high quality education – US universities and colleges have an international reputation for quality. State-of-the-artfacilities and faculty are sourced from throughout the world and endowments of millions or even billions of dollars.

Additionally, the diversity of the 4,000 higher education institutions in the US is an attractive facet. For over 30 years, AEO has brought America’s top universities to Malaysia.

These AEO exhibitions provide the exclusive opportunity to meet with the directors of admissions from numerous universities and colleges throughout the US. There is something for everyone – state universities, Catholic universities, Christian universities, private universities, liberal arts colleges and two-year colleges. The variety ranges from large universities and colleges with upwards of 40,000 students to smaller universities with only 1,000 students.

The AEO University tour returns to Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday, Oct 1. The AEO exhibition will be held at the Clarke Ballroom, Level 6, Le Meridien Hotel, KL Sentral, from 6pm to 9.30 pm.

During this AEO university tour, there will be 27 universities and colleges present, some of which are counted as among the top universities, such as the University of California, San Diego, ranked as the number five public university in the world, the University at Buffalo (state university of New York), ranked number 28 and Stony Brook University, University of Iowa, Miami U of Ohio, and Arizona State University.

Many universities accept directly after the SPM qualification. Most universities give advanced placement for STPM, A-Levels, IB or ADP programmes.

The AEO university exhibition is an opportunity for all students to research, select and apply to US colleges or universities that meet their educational and personal requirements.

Theexhibition allows students and parents to speak with the directors of admissions and learn what is required for admission and scholarships.
