HUAWEI has unveiled its much-awaited flagship Mate 30 range, claiming Malaysia is the first country to announce its arrival after China.

The Mate 30 Pro with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage is available for pre-order exclusively through its Exclusive Ownership Campaign to fans who have owned two Mate devices.

A guided tutorial is available at bit.ly/2old81u until Oct 22 for users to pre-order.

Priced at RM3,899, users can choose from two colours – Space Silver or Black.

The Mate 30 Pro sports a sleek 6.53in edge-to-edge Horizon display which curves at an 88° angle, offering users more screen real estate for an immersive viewing experience.

It sports quad rear cameras – a 40-megapixel Cine camera with ultra-wide angle lens, a 40-megapixel Supersensing camera with wide-angle lens, an 8-megapixel camera with telephoto lens, and a 3D Depth Sensing camera.

For selfies, there is a 32-megapixel camera with 3D Depth Sensing camera that supports bokeh effects.

The smartphone has a 4,500mah battery, in-screen fingerprint sensor and meets the IP68 standard for waterand dust-resistance.

Huawei Malaysia deputy country director of consumer business group Matthew Ng said the campaign is its way of rewarding loyal users with special experiences.

“Not only will our loyal friends be able to own the Mate 30 Pro before anyone else, they would also be able to enjoy exquisite gifts,” Ng said.

Pre-orders will be entitled to free gifts worth RM1,155 – a wireless in-car charger (RM289), DJI Osmo Mobile 3 gimbal (RM499), casing (RM68) and Huawei Care with extended one-year warranty, and sixmonth screen crack protection (RM299).

Fewer than 2,000 units have been allocated for the Exclusive Ownership Campaign, said Ng, adding that the pre-order units can be collected from Oct 25 onwards.

More details on availability, including for the Mate 30 with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage priced at RM2,799, will be announced later.

The Mate 30 has a 6.62in flat display, triple rear cameras, and 4,200mah battery.

Huawei also wants more app developers in Malaysia to be a part of its Huawei Mobile Services (HMS) ecosystem through the Shining Star Program.

The Shining Star Program is part of the company’s efforts to offer support and encourage more developers to come on board HMS.

The company has allocated resources amounting to Us$1bil (Rm4.19bil) for it globally.

Huawei Mobile Services APAC marketing director, Kim So Yeon, defined HMS as a new and redefined system.

“HMS supports one-time development for multi-device deployment, which will substantially improve app developers’ experience and efficiency,” Kim said.

For app developers in Malaysia, Huawei introduced the HMS Integration Challenge valued at RM500,000 comprising “above the line” resources (RM250,000), media resources (RM200,000) and cash (RM50,000).

To be in the running to win the RM500,000 package, developers have to publish their app on the Huawei Appgallery by Oct 31.

Those that publish before Nov 30 will be in the running for RM300,000 and if it’s before Dec 31, it will be RM100,000.

To date, 30 participants are in the running for the RM500,000 package, including the developers of The Star Mobile, dimsum, Astro Awani, RHB Now and Malaysia Airlines apps.

The Deputy Communication and Multimedia Minister Eddin Syazlee Shith said Malaysians will benefit greatly from the challenge.

Huawei claimed that it already has over 560,000 developers in the community and future developers will be able to present their apps to 270 million active users on over 350 million phones globally.

“I am urging Malaysians to participate and take advantage of the opportunities given by Huawei, a leading global technology company, in which successful apps developed will be given selective cash funding and marketing support,” said Eddin Syazlee.

Kim said Huawei will be running more workshops and awareness initiatives such as online marketing campaigns and consumer events to help users see how they can benefit from HMS.
