OVER 100 exciting events have been lined up for Visit Malaysia 2020 and these are all now featured on an e-brochure from the Tourism Malaysia website (www.malaysia. travel/).

The e-brochure highlights activities and festivals that the country is offering during the year-long VM2020 campaign. These include sports activities, outdoor adventure quests, nature conservation, food trailes and cultural performances.

Some highlights are Royal Floria, LAMPU (a light and motion festival), Terengganu Beach Festival, Harvest Festival and the Rainforest World Music Festival.

Meanwhile, Tourism Malaysia has also launched a special website for bird watching enthusiasts. Bird Malaysia (www. birdsmalaysia.my) was developed by the Ecotourism Conservation Society of Malaysia, with the cooperation of Tourism Malaysia and the Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry.

The website serves as a platform for local tour operators to showcase and promote their ecotourism packages, especially those that include bird watching as an activity. More than 25 interesting packages are offered by seven local birding operators. Some of these include Birding at Tabin, Sabah, Birdwatching in Mulu, Sarawak and Birdwatching Tour at Taman Negara, Pahang.

More than that, the website is also a place where birdwatching fans can share their experiences, photos and knowledge about the different species available in Malaysia.

The are currently more than 750 species of birds in the country, while 55 locations have been gazetted as Important Bird Area.
