New Mercedes B 200 and GLA 200 line-up unveiled
MERCEDES-BENZ Malaysia has added new members to it’s B and GLA Class line-up. The all-new B 200 Progressive Line is priced at RM239,888 on-theroad without insurance.
Powered by a 1.33-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged engine with 163hp and maximum torque of 250Nm, mated to a 7G-DCT transmission, it can accelerate from 0-100kph in 8.2 seconds.
It gets a Progressive Line exterior, which sports a radiator grille with silver-painted twin louvres and chrome insert, front apron with chrome insert, side sill panels and 18-inch 5-twin spoke light-alloy wheels.
Its interior features a wraparound cabin with Artico leather upholstery in black, and a centre console with touch-based control and input system that comes with a black panel which look similar to the E-Class.
The ambient lighting with 64 colours and 10 colour worlds is unique in this segment, allowing individual adjustments to suit the mood.
The new generation B-Class is also the second car model after the A-Class to feature the MercedesBenz User Experience (MBUX) multimedia system.
This comes with touch screen control as well as a high-resolution Widescreen cockpit, navigation display with Augmented Reality technology plus intelligent voice control with natural speech recognition, which is activated by saying “Hey Mercedes”.
Driving assistance systems include Blind Spot Assist – radar sensors that monitor the areas directly alongside and behind the car, and helps warn the driver when there are objects detected while changing lanes.
It also has Active Brake Assist, which can help mitigate the severity of rear-end collisions with slower-moving, stopping or stationary vehicles ahead.
Meanwhile, the new GLA 200 Style Line is priced at RM223,888 on-the-road without insurance.
Powered by a 1.6-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged engine with 156hp and torque of 250Nm, mated to a 7G-DCT transmission, it can accelerate from 0 -100kph in 8.1 seconds.
The exterior of the updated GLA 200 include 18-inch 5-twin-spoke light-alloy wheels and inserts in high-gloss chrome on the radiator trim in matt iridium silver.
The beltline trim strip and the load sill guard also feature an elegant chrome finish.
On the inside, the luxury seats finished in Artico man-made leather and Macapá fabric feature a pattern inspired by tyre tracks.
The GLA 200 Style also comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as a 8.0-inch media display.
Personalised vehicle settings can be chosen with the Dynamic Select switch. These include characteristics of the engine, transmission, suspension and steering characteristics.
Safety features include Attention Assist - protection against drowsiness by preventing the risk of micro sleep increases especially on long journeys and when driving at night, as well as Active Brake PreSafe system, Active Parking Assist with Parktronic and LED High Performance headlamps.
