SOMETIME by Asian Designers just introduced their latest CSR initiative through their sustainable canvas bag collection, the special edition Eslona.
A portion of proceeds from the sales of this special edition collection will go to the Malaysian Nature Society (MNS), an organisation that advocates the conservation of the country’s natural heritage. The proceeds will specifically go towards the conservation of the Malayan tapir and tiger.
Over the past few years, Sometime by Asian Designers – a Malaysian bag specialist company that co-designs with selected Asian designers and fashion icons, founded in 2012 by Nicole Wong and Stan Chooi – has made waves across Asia with its collections.
The brand is known for its high quality products made using vegan leather (premium synthetic leather and microfiber).
Earlier this year, it introduced its first canvas collection, Estela, designed to make a change in the daily lives of people as well as leave a positive impact on the world. With this in mind, Sometime by Asian Designers decided to contribute to a specific cause by raising awareness of endangered species among the fashion community.
It collaborated with Anak Rimba Books, an independent e-bookstore that sells children’s books that centre around endangered animals and their habitats. With this partnership, Sometime by Asian Designers incorporates the wildlife artwork into the brand’s sustainable canvas collection.
“I’m constantly looking for innovative ways to produce products of exceptional quality in a sustainable way. Hence, we avoid using animal skin for our leather products. The canvas collection is our first step into the world of eco-friendly fashion. It gives me great pleasure to partner with Anak Rimba Books, d.d collective and Sereni & Shentel as it gives the Eslona collection a greater purpose,” said Wong.
This special edition collection features the Eslona, a large canvas bag that serves multiple purposes and the Eslona Mini, a miniature canvas bag for adults or kids. The Eslona and Eslona Mini are both available in beige and black. — Sandra Low
