Lucky Coin

- — By Teioh Wu Yang, 10.

BEN dug through his wardrobe. he had to find that coin.

Ben had not studied for a history exam and he planned to use his lucky coin to ace it. Sadly, he had lost the coin.

After he searched for about 10 minutes, his mom called: “Ben! The bus is here!”

he walked to the bus and sat down next to his best friend, Artemis.

“I am doomed! I didn’t study for the history test and I lost my lucky coin,” Ben lamented. Artemis gasped, “Lucky I’m not you. I studied and brought my lucky coin.”

The bus pulled into the driveway. Ben alighted and walked to the school entrance.

he walked to his locker and opened the door. he took out his history textbooks and walked to his doom. he opened the old blue door to his history classroom. The test papers were all lined up neatly on the desks. Ben walked towards his desk to do some last-minute studying before the test.

But before he could even open his textbook, Mr Brown, the history teacher, stepped into the class.

“Test time!” he announced. Everybody groaned and put their textbook away before they were asked to.

Ben opened his test paper with a shaky hand. To his surprise, there was only one question, “To explain World War 2 (do not use any more paper than the one supplied).

Ben was delighted. This was great news. he enjoyed reading history books. he wrote a lot, and even asked for extra papers.

Ben was confident he would pass the test. The rest of the school day went by like a breeze. And when Ben finally got home, he ran up to his room and threw his school bag on the bed and switched on the lights.

he pulled his crumpled homework out of his messy school bag and walked to his desk. On his desk was his lucky coin!

The next day when Ben was walking to school, he went to his locker to get his history books and opened the door to his history class. The test results were on their desks. Ben was feeling smug. he walked to his table expecting to see an A+ on his test paper but instead, he saw a big red F.

That was when he realised that he wasn’t meant to use extra paper.
