Idea for a higher education institution with Bahasa Melayu as the medium of instruction mooted at Council of Rulers
1970
UKM was first established at a temporary campus in Jalan Pantai Baru, Kuala Lumpur. It comprised of three faculties: Science, Arts and Islamic Studies.
1973
UKM holds its first convocation ceremony

UKM moves to present main campus in Bangi

Faculty of Education established
