Stay home, stay safe

-

DUE to the Covid-19 pandemic, it is best to minimise our movement and stay home more often. The government calls it the movement control order (MCO). Children have not been able to go to school since March 18. Some of us have been doing homework and studying via Google Classroom and Google Meet.

In between classes, many children have also been helping with chores at home. Some are learning how to cook. Others have hobbies like painting, sewing and gardening. What have you been doing at home during the MCO? Have you been a great help at home?

Many of you wrote to us on the topic “Stay safe during the MCO”. Here’s what you had to say.

“During the MCO, I have been attending many online classes. I also helped my father plant corn and bean sprouts, and I have been helping my mother with chores like sweeping and mopping,” says Jane Ng Ai Wen, seven.

Eight-year-old Sara Lim Xin Ann has been having a fun time at home during the MCO. She learned to bake cakes and make dumplings. “Besides my e-lessons, I have been helping out with chores like washing the dishes and folding clothes. During the MCO period, I hope to learn how to fry an egg.”

“Many pupils dislike the MCO, but not me. Since I have been at home, I have learned many interesting things from my mother. This includes baking cakes, cooking and gardening,” says Selvantra Selvakumar, eight.
