The Star Malaysia - Star2

Invest in your future career

-

AS Malaysia’s economy struggles to recover from the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic and businesses start adopting technological solutions for the “new normal”, it is becoming clear that current employees and future graduates must acquaint themselves with aspects of the Industrial Revolution 4.0 to maximise their job prospects.

First City University College’s stellar record of producing industry-relevant graduates for the past 30 years includes the 1997 and 2009 global economic downturns.

Many First City UC alumni enrolled as foundation students before transitioning into bachelor’s degree programmes. Besides being accredited by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency, all foundation programmes are taught by lecturers equipped with industrial experience.

Foundation in Art and Design (FAD)

The one-year FAD programme offered by the Faculty of Design and Built Environment enjoys great appeal among art students as its curriculum is adapted from reputable UK art programmes.

Students will be exposed to a wide range of art and design activities while familiarising themselves with practical studio work.

Through their third semester project, students can identify whether they should go on to Graphic Design, Interior Architecture and Design, Furniture and Product Design or Fashion Marketing.

Foundation in Business Administration (FBA)

Offered by the Faculty of Business, Hospitality and

Communication (FBHC), the oneyear FBA introduces the basics of business. During their third semester, students will have the opportunity to select their preferred elective subjects.

FBA graduates with a credit in SPM Mathematics may opt for the Bachelor of Information Systems (Hons) in Business Management, offered by the Faculty of Engineering and Computing.

Foundation in Engineering, Science and Technology (FEST)

The one-year FEST programme offered by the Faculty of Engineering and Computing educates students on the social and ethical implications in the respective fields. FEST also equips students with interpersonal and communication skills in a group working environment, which is crucial for their bachelor’s degree assignments involving the laboratory.

Starting from the second semester, students will have the option of choosing an Engineering (leading to Electronic and Mechanical Engineering) or Computing (Software Engineering, Computer Science (Intelligent Systems), Information Systems and Information Technology) pathway.

Virtual Open Day, enrolment incentives and campus learning facilities

SPM school-leavers are encouraged to map out their education pathway to success at First City UC’s Virtual Open Day sessions held throughout July.

Prospective foundation students should enrol quickly to ensure that they will be among the first 100 students entitled for First City UC’s financial aid and scholarships.

Moreover, foundation or diploma students are encouraged to continue with bachelor’s degree studies as they will be eligible for a 15% Alumni Incentive.

To ensure that as many students as possible have access to affordable and excellent tertiary education, First City UC provide financial aid and scholarships including the First City Merit Scholarship, UEC Scholarship, Sports Scholarship, Sibling and Alumni Incentive.

As First City UC is located at a strategic spot in Bandar Utama in Petaling Jaya, Selangor, students will have access to many amenities, including eateries as well as the 1 Utama Shopping Centre. They will also enjoy ease of connectivity with major public transportation such as the MRT.

First City UC’s eco-friendly campus is equipped with state-of-the art learning and recreational facilities along with on-campus accommodation with attached bathrooms.
