Full-on fashion extravaganza

THE music video for Blackpink’s new single, Pink Venom, is a sight to behold. Lisa, Jisoo, Jennie and Rose cycled through what looks like 20 different outfits in three minutes and 13 seconds.

There were numerous name-droppings of luxury fashion labels too.

“Kick in the door, waving the coco,” goes the opening line of the song. Sung by Jennie, it is a possible reference to the founder of the Chanel fashion house, Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel.

There is also the direct mention in the lyrics of another french luxury brand, Celine.

“This the life of a vandal, masked up and I’m still in Celine,” is heard in Lisa’s rap verse.

All of the Blackpink girls have a special connection to a french luxury fashion house – Lisa with Celine, Rose with Saint Laurent, Jennie with Chanel, and Jisoo with Dior.

Each one has been appointed global ambassador of the respective brands.

Not surprising then that Jisoo wore Dior’s latest collection in the music video.

She was dressed head-to-toe by the label in one scene. The clothes came from the Autumn/ Winter 2022 collection.

Other outfits worn by the K-pop girl group came from brands like Miss Sohee, GCDS, fanci, Vivienne Westwood, Marina Eerrie, Jeff hamilton,

Alexander Wang, Sicko Cartel, Demobaza and more.

According to the group’s label YG Entertainment, the Pink Venom music video is Blackpink’s most expensive video.

After a 22-month hiatus, this is a pre-release single of the highly-anticipated second full-length Blackpink album Born Pink out next month.

The Pink Venom music video has garnered over 140 million views on Youtube, plus approximately 10 million likes, since its unveil on friday (Aug 19). –
