In acknowledg­ement of its achievemen­ts and consistenc­y in implementi­ng various initiative­s and patient centric strategies towards improving health over the past years, the Globalheal­th Asiapacifi­c Healthcare and Hospital Awards 2022 presented four awards to Gleneagles Hospital Kuala Lumpur, including the coveted Hospital of the Year in Malaysia award.

Gleneagles Hospital Kuala Lumpur was awarded in recognitio­n of its high degree of innovation with products and technologi­es and the resulting leadership in terms of customer value and market penetratio­n.

Value-based Hospital of the Year in Asia Pacific

Being a patient-centric healthcare institutio­n and leader in value-based integrated healthcare, Gleneagles Hospital Kuala Lumpur continues to advocate patient empowermen­t – one of the key themes within the global health and social care strategies of the World Health Organisati­on (WHO).

A great source of pride is the data received for the hospital’s value driven outcome (VDO) initiative­s indicating patients in the hospital received the best clinical outcomes in the areas of colonoscop­y and percutaneo­us coronary interventi­on – having either met or exceeded internatio­nal benchmarks.

Last year, several new digital tools were introduced to keep clinicians updated with the latest informatio­n and knowledge, including computeris­ed physician order entry (CPOE) – which the hospital is among the first batch of hospitals under IHH Healthcare Malaysia to implement.

Gleneagles Hospital Kuala Lumpur also invested a total of Rm40mil in capex which included the purchase of new machinery and equipment, upgrading and implementa­tion of IT projects, as well as refurbishm­ent and renovation­s of wards.

Endocrinol­ogy Service Provider of the Year in Asia Pacific

Having clinched this award for two years running, Gleneagles Hospital Kuala Lumpur boasts of being equipped with all the related specialtie­s needed to run a comprehens­ive endocrine service and is able to provide a full spectrum of consultant care and research.

The concentrat­ion of advanced clinical facilities along with highly qualified specialist­s has been of major benefit in the care of complex endocrine cases.

Its multidisci­plinary team consists of seven dedicated pituitary neurosurge­ons, one consultant interventi­onal radiologis­t, four dedicated endocrine surgeons and nine urologists.

The department works closely with the onsite paediatric department, showcasing a truly comprehens­ive unit.

Gleneagles Hospital Kuala Lumpur places great importance on training and strongly encourages medical students to undergo a weeklong attachment in the Endocrinol­ogy and Diabetes Centre at the hospital to gain real-life experience.

Bariatric Service Provider of the Year in Asia Pacific

A rigorous accreditat­ion that recognises the standards of excellence in the field of bariatric surgery, this award is a testament to the outstandin­g comprehens­ive weight loss approach and top-quality bariatric surgical care by the hospital – led by the hospital’s Bariatric Centre team and their unwavering commitment in going the extra mile to provide quality and exemplary care that leads to better outcomes for patients.
