KUALA LUMPUR: Petronas Dagangan Bhd (PetDag) is planning to set up an additional 10 to 15 petrol stations this year, across Malaysia.

PetDag chief executive officer and managing director Mohd Ibrahimnuddin Yunus said that the locations of these new stations have not been confirmed.

“We plan to organise more promotions this year. We cannot divulge on how much capital expenditure we are allocating this year,” he said after the launch of Petronas Coffee Break campaign.

MIDF Research in a results preview report, opined that PetDag’s expansion plans for the year would be limited, with more focus to increasing throughput for all stations.

“In addition, continuous effort will be placed on further reducing and containing its operating costs in a bid to increase profit margins,” said MIDF Research in a results preview report.

The Petronas Coffee Break campaign is a yearly campaign held in conjunction with Chinese New Year as well as Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations.

Some 121 participating Petronas stations along major highways nationwide will be distributing 600,000 cups of freshly brewed hot coffee and snacks to motorists.

Held for the 18th year since its inception in 1999, it is a corporate social responsibility initiative of PetDag, which includes collaborations with the Road Safety Department (RTD) to reinforce road safety messages, Proton Holdings Bhd for free 20-point safety inspections on Proton cars at selected locations, as well as St John Ambulance of Malaysia (SJAM) to provide health checks.
