OCBC holds financial health scans in new Screen Dreams campaign

-

IN the same way that medical scans can be a life-saver when attending to physiological well-being, OCBC Bank (M) Bhd believes financial scans have become vital to financial survival in a fast-changing world where diagnosis is still a foreign word and “diseases” left to fester.

With this in mind, the bank recently introduced a campaign that it aptly calls Financial Scan.

“The idea behind the campaign is to help our customers better understand and have greater control of their finances and motivate them to live life to the fullest and achieve their dreams by starting exactly where they need to,” the bank’s head of consumer financial services Lim Wyson says in an interview.

The bank sees its campaign as an important initiative to give customers a reasonable understanding of their current financial standing so they know what solutions to focus on.

“The Financial Scan assesses a person’s financial standing through seven simple questions that focus on how much they save, spend, invest and insure. By observing certain rules of thumb, a person is able to ascertain where he or she is doing well and where to improve,” Lim adds.

The Financial Scan campaign was launched earlier this month together with a broader initiative called Screen Dreams developed by the bank in collaboration with their advertising agency Leo Burnett. The four-month digital-led campaign ends on Oct 31 this year.

The Screen Dreams campaign, he says, revolves around how a person keeps his or her dreams on the screen savers of their personal devices, mainly mobile phones.

“These could be a picture of our family, destinations that we yearn to visit, our dream car and even photos of our hobbies. They all represent examples of our innate desires. More often than not, what stands between us and our dreams is a lack of knowledge about where to start.

“Through this campaign, we hope to position OCBC Bank as the partner that people can engage with in order to get closer to their dreams. Once a person goes through our online Financial Scan they are encouraged to meet our team of money specialists who will take them to the next level,” Lim explains.

The bank has a dedicated money specialist team that has been trained specifically to provide recommendations to help people take the necessary steps in the journey. For a start, the service will be made available in the Klang Valley.

To encourage participation, customers stand a chance to win a Screen Dreams Starter Fund worth RM5,000 when they complete a financial scan. The odds of winning will then increase after they meet up with the money specialist. Each month, two winners are selected, right until October.

“Our customers can complete the Financial Scan at no cost and the meeting with our money specialists is obligation-free,” he adds. – By Daljit Dhesi
