PUTRAJAYA: Atilze Digital Sdn Bhd has signed a collaboration agreement with telco operator U Mobile Sdn Bhd for the provision of 3G and 4G LTE connectivity for Atilze Connected Car devices.

Atilze Digital is a wholly-owned subsidiary of G3 Global Bhd (formerly Yen Global Bhd).

The Atilze on-board OBDIIconnected car devices are equipped with various sensors that collect a range of data that is sent to the Atilze Cloud Platform through the 3G and 4G LTE connectivity provided by U Mobile.

The Atilze Connected Car offers many data-driven applications including real-time diagnostics, predictive maintenance, driving pattern analysis, Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (Adas) and in-car WiFi.

Speaking at the agreement signing ceremony, Atilze CEO Gerard Lim said the company shared the government’s plans to improve road safety and reduce road accidents.

According to Lim, Atilze and U Mobile will eventually come up with a definite aggrement that will state the duration and terms of the collaboration.

“We look forward to working closely with the govrnment and industry partners to bring the many benefits of Connected Car to Malaysia and to make Malaysian roads safer for everyone,” he said.

The installation of Adas for commercial vehicles has been proven to reduce road accidents by up to 80%.

Apart from being a connectivity partner, U Mobile is also looking into bundling Atilze Connected Car solutions as part of its mobile plans to its enterprise customers.

This means that U Mobile’s enterprise customers will have the option of having Atilze Connected Car devices installed in their vehicles, and the various smart car solutions that will be available through the telco’s 3G and 4G LTE connectivity.

Earnings contribution from Atilze is expected to be reflected in G3 Global’s earnings next year.

“It (IoT solutions) is a growing business and with this year being the product development year, we expect earnings from Atilze to contribute positively to G3 Global next year.

“We are also engaging with one of the largest car distributors in Indonesia to have our Connected Car solutions installed,” said Lim.

Atilze has invested an estimated US$3mil since last year for its Connected Car solutions and software development.

The company has conducted numerous Connected Car pilot projects for over 12 months, both in Malaysia and Indonesia, involving hundreds of vehicles of all makes and models.

To date, Atilze’s Connected Car solutions are imbedded in a particular model of German-made car.

Atilze, along with U Mobile, is in talks with another local car distributor to take up its Connected Car product offering. The Connected Car solutions operate on a subscription service basis.

Going forward, Atilze will collaborate with insurance companies to have the solutions bundled with insurance packages.
