Vizeum Malaysia names Chinar Joshi as GM of strategy
VIZEUM Malaysia, a Dentsu Aegis Network media agency, has appointed Chinar Joshi as Vizeum Malaysia general manager (strategy).
He joins from IPG Mediabrands Malaysia, where he spent 4½ years with Universal McCann in a strategy and planning role, and was then promoted within IPG as general manager to lead its media agency BPN during the agency’s transition phase last year.
During his stint at IPG, Joshi was part of the team that had won three consecutive Agency of the Year titles at the Malaysian Media Awards, while managing high-billings portfolios such as Johnson & Johnson, CIMB, U-Mobile and Suntory & Cerebos.
Hailing from India, Joshi’s 10 years of industry experience includes insights gained from his time in global creative shops such as Wieden+Kennedy and Ogilvy & Mather.
He steps up to take his new role as general manager (strategy) of Vizeum Malaysia, with a mandate to lead and drive more integrated marketing solutions and strategic deliverables for Vizeum’s clients. He reports to Vizeum Malaysia CEO Wong Siew Wai. On the appointment, Wong says: “We intend to keep Vizeum’s growth on an upward trajectory and that means continuously improving our deliverables to existing clients while exploring new revenue streams.
“Joshi brings a creative and fresh perspective to the business – his insights on strategy and track record of pioneering commercial initiatives for both clients and agencies are aligned with Vizeum’s long-term game plan.”
Joshi’s appointment makes him part of the senior management steering the 50-strong ‘Media Agency of the Year’, as conferred by Campaign Asia. Vizeum is also recognised by RECMA as the fastest growing agency network in South-East Asia, and in Malaysia, the agency recorded double-digit year-on-year growth in both its billings and revenue last year.
