MRT Corp awards jobs to WCT and MRCB
PETALING JAYA: Mass Rapid Transit Corp Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp) has awarded two contracts to build elevated stations totalling RM345.3mil to WCT Holdings Bhd and Malaysian Resources Corp Bhd (MRCB).
WCT told Bursa Malaysia that its unit, WCT Bhd, had secured a RM199.5mil job to build elevated stations at Kuchai Lama and Taman Naga Emas, Kuala Lumpur.
In November last year, WCT had won a RM896.4mil contract to build the viaduct guideway from Bandar Malaysia South Portal to Kampung Muhibbah. The Kuchai Lama and Taman Naga Emas stations are the next stations after Bandar Malaysia South along the 52.2-km Sungai Buloh-Serdang-Putrajaya (SSP) line.
“The station works form part of WCT Bhd’s prime cost sum under the main contract. With this latest award of the station works directly to WCT Bhd instead of a nominated sub-contractor, the overall construction margin is expected to improve accordingly,” it said.
In its announcement to the exchange, MRCB said MRT Corp had given it a RM145.8mil contract to build elevated stations and do other associated works at Cyberjaya City Centre and Putrajaya Sentral, the last two stops at the southern end of the SSP line.
MRCB had in May last year won a RM648mil contract from MRT Corp to build a viaduct gateway from Persiaran Apec in Cyberjaya to Putrajaya Sentral.
Besides the new MRT contract, MRCB also announced that it had bagged a RM58.9mil deal from Johor Land Bhd to build Larkin Indoor Stadium in Johor Baru.
MRCB said the stadium would be completed within 18 months from the date of site possession.
