Bermaz expects strong sales for new CX-5

KULIM: Bermaz Auto Bhd expects the new 2018 Mazda CX-5 five-seater SUV (sport utility vehicle) to boost the company’s sales, due to the car’s premium features and design.

Bermaz Auto is the distributo­r of Mazda cars and spare parts in Malaysia and the Philippine­s.

The CX-5 comes in five variants, consisting of two 2.0-litre petrol, a 2.5-litre petrol, and two 2.2-litre diesel models.

On the road prices without insurance are RM134,605.50 (2.0-litre GL petrol); RM148,605.50 (2.0-litre GLS petrol); RM160,996.70 (2.5-litre GLS petrol);

RM164, 579.10 (2.2-litre GLS diesel 2-wheel drive) and RM175,179.10 (2.2-litre GLS diesel all-wheel drive).

“The new CX-5 has improvemen­ts in powertrain response, NVH (noise, vibration, harshness) levels, and driving pleasure,” said Mazda Motor Corp programme manager (product division) Minoru Takata at the rollout of the new SUV at the Inokom plant in Kulim, Kedah. Three new premium colours, namely Soul Red Crystal, Machine Gray and Snow Flake White Pearl Mica are offered.

A new Mazda-exclusive paint line facility was built at the Inokom plant for the CX-5, which is said to provide premium paint quality and finishing on par or even exceeding that of cars produced in Japan.

“Mazda Malaysia invested RM87mil to bring our latest premium paint process here,” said Mazda Motor Corp managing executive editor Masatoshi Maruyama.

“Malaysia is an important production base for Mazda in the Asean region. Over the last three years, Mazda sales in Asean grew 41%.

The new CX-5 produced in Malaysia will also be shipped to Thailand, Philippine­s and Indonesia,” he added. — By Thomas Huong
