Experts to offer views at Sustainable Brands conference
PETALING JAYA: Global thought-leaders and sustainability practitioners will be offering their insights on how to help grow businesses at the upcoming Sustainable Brands worldwide conference next week.
“This convergence of sustainability and design leaders along with a global community of business innovators are shaping the future of commerce,” said Gerald Miranda, the convenor of the conference, in a statement.
“They will be deliberating on the growing trends of consumers who are now buying from brands based on their social and environmental impact,” he said.
Spearheading the international speakers at the conference will be the chief executive officer and founder of Sustainable Brands Worldwide, KoAnn Skrzyniarz.
Gerald said local brand innovators have been testing new frameworks, methods, tools and partnerships to ensure purpose-driven brands outperform traditional brands in delivering tangible business results.
“Sustainability is a major issue that affects the purchasing decisions of today’s youths. About 85% are willing to switch brands if they know that a brand contributes back to society. Also 91% of youth want to be involved with socially responsible companies. This underpins the fact that sustainability resonates intrinsically with the youth today.”
Bursa Malaysia and FTSE has tackled the issue of sustainability with the ESG index that compels Malaysian companies to innovate and adopt more sustainable practices to comply with this new mandate.
The Sustainable Brands worldwide conference will be held in Kuala Lumpur from Oct 10-11 at Connexion@Nexus, Bangsar South.
